Show your love for Barrow

THERE has never been a better time to Love Barrow.

And there’s never been a better time for all of us to show we Love Barrow.

Economic circumstances and government cuts mean some of the organisations which have shouted loudly and effectively for Barrow face downsizing or closure.

The North West Development agency has been good for Barrow, with the area getting its fair share of commitment and funding.

So too has Barrow Regeneration in focusing minds and encouraging a collective aspiration that while there’s lots to be proud of in Barrow, it can also, with everyone pulling together in the same direction, be a better place to live, work and play.

Without those organisations there is a danger that Barrow’s voice might not be heard so loudly, and so effectively.

Here at the Evening Mail we will continue to fight, not just for Barrow, but for Furness, Millom and the whole of South Cumbria.

We will continue to celebrate progress and achievement across our community, from those in our schools, the arts, sport, entertainment, business and the unsung heroes who enhance our day to day lives.

But what we really need, more than anyone, is YOU.

In general in Barrow, we are not the best at shouting about all the good things in our area, and having and sticking to, a vision on how to make our community even better. We have tended to leave that to other people.

Well, soon, many of those other people may no longer be in a position to do that job for you.

So it’s down to you, each and everyone of you, to ask yourself what do you do to make Barrow an even better place.

We have again asked children across our area what they would like to see in Barrow in 2020.

But now we want you to start telling us what you would like to see, and the best way it could be achieved.

It’s your town. It’s your voice. It’s your opportunity to use it and show how Love Barrow can continue to be a positive force for change.
